Our Final Production Company Logo

We found that if we kept our logo nice and simple it would give off a better effect, adding the black background made the writing stand out a lot easier. Not adding to much into has made it not look over the top that will make it less proffesional

Idea's of Location Photo's

Throughout the school we searched for different locations where we could film our opening scenes. from taking pictures we found four locations that seemed suitable for the certain genre we was filming.

We have chosen this as one of the main ideas of where we will be filming due to this looking like a deserted room which a homeless person would hang out or stay due to not having anywhere to stay. Also its a dark and damp room which links to the grenre.

Grafiti walled rooms usually suggests that gangs have been and gone and left the place in a mess, due to our character being homeless she will find any place to stay no matter what the conditions are like.

We have also chosen this location for when the two male characters are coming to look for Ella, because its a darken area it gives off the effect of tense when watching the movie.

This location was also going to be in our movie due to it being wet and damp and not the greatest condition, this also links into our main character being homeless.

After looking at various different locations, as a group we feel that going with the first location would be the most suitable for the way we want to film our clip.

Research - Props

In certain horror films they use different props for the killers to use, for example:

In this film (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) the main killer within in the film uses the chainsaw as he's weapon to use. Usually within horror movies the weapons they use come across to the audience of been well extreme. Directors do this because they feel that it will frighten the audience as well as other characters within the film.

Also in this film (Freddy Kruger’s Razor Glove in Nightmare on Elm Street) the main character has a clove which he uses as he's main weapon to slaughter other characters. This weapon is different to the other one because its hand made for how he wants it. Also instead of walking round with a massive weapon he can hide he's identity till he needs to kill someone.

This weapon is used in Hostel: Part II, it is known to be in the top 10 weapons for horror movies. The weapon is used to attack opponents they are after and to slaughter them with pain. The weapon is called a Scythe. It is held up by a wooden pole with the blade bending over and outwards.

Research - Lighting

Most horror films use low key lighting because it gives the suspicious effect off where the audience feel something bad is going to happen, or the directors try to pull of this affect. The darkness usually pulls of a sense of mystery off to the audience becuase of this. The use of natural lighting within a film usually gives of the affect of the scene and mood of the film calm, safe, comfy. So when the audience see the lighting to be brighter they will then know there will be a happy mood within the scenes.

In horrors shadows also picks off an affect to the audience, because of this is gives off a suspense mood which keeps the audience eager to want to know what happens next, usually you get signs of a killer within these shadows which then frightens the actors in the scene aswell as the audience.

Research - Masks

Masks are used in many different horror movies; they use these because it hides the identity of the actor.  These actors within the film mainly are the characters which other characters try to avoid; this is because they are usually the killer(s) within the movie. For example the film Freddy vs. Jason use mask to hide the identity of their serial killer, so know body is able to identify who they are. Also the killer’s character also has these clothes which he/she wears to kill the suspects instead of using their bare hands.
There are other horror movies which use this idea such as:
·         Hannibal’s Muzzle (The Silence of the Lambs)
·         Scream Mask (Scream)
·         Michael Myers’ Mask (Halloween)

Also horror movies use masks to try and fright the audience because of the way they look. The masks that we see in movies are variable from having plain white masks with very little detail or the producers will make them look more frightening to scare the other characters or the audience.
